OBJECTIVES
  1. Conduct a timely and efficient review of research proposals to ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulations.
  2. Provide guidance and support to researchers and research administrators on the ethical conduct of research.
  3. Promote awareness and understanding of ethical issues in research among faculty, students, and staff.
  4. Monitor compliance with ethical standards and regulations by conducting audits and inspections.
  5. Foster collaboration and partnerships with other institutions and stakeholders to promote ethical research practices.
  6. Develop and implement policies and procedures related to research ethics and review in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, such as faculty members,
    researchers, and regulatory bodies.
  7. Oversee the ethical review process for research projects, including the review of research proposals, informed consent documents, and data privacy protections.
  8. Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements related to research ethics and review, including but not limited to IRB/REC requirements,
    institutional policies, and federal regulations.
  9. Provide education and training to faculty, researchers, and staff on research ethics and review principles and practices.
  10. Advise researchers on ethical considerations and review protocols for their research studies.
  11. Manage and mentor staff members within the Research Ethics and Review Office, including hiring, training, and evaluating their performance.
  12. Collaborate with other university departments and external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies, to promote ethical research practices and ensure
    compliance.
  13. Develop and maintain an efficient and effective system for tracking and reporting research ethics and review activities to ensure compliance and improve
    the quality of the review process.
  14. Participate in the development and implementation of research initiatives, policies, and procedures related to research ethics and review.
  15. Serve as a liaison with other academic institutions and regulatory agencies to ensure alignment of institutional and regulatory requirements related to
    research ethics and review.
