Exciting Day at Barangay San Nicolas, San Dionisio, Iloilo!
 
We are thrilled to announce the successful conduct of the first day of the "Upgrading of Pandan Bag and Bayoyot Phase 3" held at our beloved partner Barangay San Nicolas. The event started with a vibrant opening program where inspiring messages were delivered by our esteemed guests.
 
SB member Hon. Jay-R Bajada shared his insightful thoughts on the importance of community development and the positive impact this project will have on our barangay. We were also honored to hear from Ms. April Ace Ociel, representing 5th District Board Member Binky April M. Tupas, who emphasized the significance of local craftsmanship and its potential to uplift our economy.
 
A special thanks to Municipal Mayor, Hon. Darwin R. Bajada, for gracing us with his presence. Mayor Bajada not only showed his full support for the project but also promised to fund the construction of the Barangay Daycare Center and Product Display Center in the first quarter of next year. His commitment to our community's growth and development is truly inspiring!

Northern Iloilo State University's Children Health Care Program✨🌟
 
 
"Children Health Care Program" organized by the Northern Iloilo State University Office of the Extension Services! held on December 19, 2023, at Barangay San Nicolas, San Dionisio, Iloilo.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the visionary leadership of University President Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo, whose unwavering support has made this initiative possible. His commitment to community welfare inspires us all.
Special thanks to Punong Barangay Hon. Enrica B. Famoles for partnering with us and fostering an environment where the health of our youth is a shared priority.
We would also like to express our gratitude to Dr. Michelle Torremucha and Dr. Jose Edwin Figura for joining hands with us in promoting medical and dental health care among the children. Your commitment to fostering healthy smiles is truly appreciated.
 

 
In a bid to enhance the skills and livelihood opportunities of residents in Barangay San Nicolas, San Dionisio, Iloilo, the Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) Office of Extension Services, led by University Director for Extension Services, Dr. Rene Jun B. Belgica, conducted a comprehensive Food Processing Training on October 11-12, 2023.
 
The event was well-attended and marked by the enthusiastic participation of the Barangay's residents. Supervisor for Allied Extension Services, Prof. Anthony B. Samuel, and Co-Chairman of the Allied Extension Services, Prof. Maribel B. Bandojo, actively contributed to the training's success by sharing their expertise and facilitating the learning sessions. Community Development Assistant II, Mr. Hamilton John C. Castillano, ensured the smooth conduct of the program.
 
The collaboration between the NISU Office of Extension Services and the local government unit was underscored by the presence and support of Punong Barangay Hon. Enrica B. Famoles. Her commitment to community development and empowerment was instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of the training program.
 

 
In a concerted endeavor to bolster the reading proficiency of secondary level students, Northern Iloilo State University (NISU), in collaboration with its Extension Office and the College of Education, embarked on a proactive journey guided by distinguished resource speakers, Dr. Bon Eric A. Besonia and Dr. Jan Carlo T. Arroyo. This pioneering initiative garnered unwavering support from key university officials, including Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo, the University President; Dr. Allemar Jhone P. Delima, the Vice President for Research and Extension; and Dr. Rene Jun B. Belgica, the University Director of Extension Services.
 
Together, they orchestrated and delivered a groundbreaking workshop entitled "Revolutionizing Reading Proficiency: Augmented Reality for Student Advancement." This transformative event unfolded on September 26, 2023, at the Granada National High School-Ballesteros Campus in Gabi, Carles, Iloilo, drawing active and spirited participation from the devoted educators of the school.
 
 

"Successful Training on Food Processing Empowers Residents of Barangay Cubay, San Dionisio, Iloilo"
 
 
Last September 18 to 19, 2023, the residents of Barangay Cubay in San Dionisio, Iloilo, enjoyed a highly successful two-day Training on Food Processing, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Office of Extension Services Main Campus. The program was executed under the leadership of Dr. Rene Jun B. Belgica, the University Director for Extension Services.
 
The training program aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of participants in food processing. They were provided with hands-on experience, learning the intricacies of food processing under the guidance of an experienced trainer.
 
The event garnered positive feedback from the participants, who appreciated the expertise and commitment of the organizers and trainer. Many expressed their eagerness to apply what they had learned in their respective ventures.
 
The success of this training program reflects the dedication of the Office of Extension Services in empowering individuals through education and skills development, ultimately contributing to the advancement of the food processing sector in San Dionisio, Iloilo.
 
 

Successful Monitoring Activity for Extension Programs in San Dionisio
 
 
A comprehensive monitoring activity for extension programs, projects, and activities conducted in Barangay San Nicolas and Barangay Cubay, San Dionisio, Iloilo on September 13, 2023, showcased the commitment of the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee led by Dr. Bon Eric A. Besionia.
 
The committee, consisting of Prof. Glenn Grace Bayhon, Prof. Mark John Belleza, and Extension Staff Mr. Hamilton John C. Castillano, assessed the outcomes and impacts of various initiatives within the two communities.
 
The monitoring team engaged with local residents, program beneficiaries, and barangay officials to gain valuable insights into the extension projects. Their findings will help in refining future initiatives to better serve the needs of the people in San Dionisio.
 
 

"Northern Iloilo State University's Green Initiative: Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo Leads Massive Tree Planting Event in Partnership with KOICA Fellows Association Inc. on September 5, 2023"
 
 
In a concerted effort to combat environmental challenges and promote sustainable development, Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) under the leadership of its president, Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo, joined hands with the Philippine KOICA Fellows Association Inc. for a Tree Planting Activity on September 5, 2023. The event, held at Barangay Santo Tomas, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo, brought together a diverse group of participants committed to nurturing the environment.
 
The tree planting initiative witnessed the active participation of various key stakeholders, including Barangay Officials headed by their Punong Barangay, Hon. Remo B. Batacandolo, who expressed their support for the greening endeavor. NISU's commitment to environmental stewardship was further highlighted by the presence of its faculty and staff from Batad Campus headed by their Campus Administrator, Dr. Veminrose A. Clariza-Samuel, along with Extension Personnel from the NISU Main Campus headed by the University Director for Extension Services, Dr. Rene Jun B. Belgica.
 
Among the youth organizations that joined hands with NISU for this noble cause were the Supreme Student Council (SSC), Future Leaders of the Philippines (FLP), and the Young Environmentalist Society Org. (YES-O). Their enthusiasm and dedication to the project underscored the importance of engaging the younger generation in environmental preservation.
 
The Tree Planting Activity at Barangay Santo Tomas was a resounding success, and it is expected to leave a lasting impact on the environment and the local community. As the trees grow and flourish, they will serve as a living testament to the dedication of NISU, the KOICA Fellows Association, and all the participants who came together to make this event possible.
 
 

"Elevating Communities: Empowering Gigantes Island Barangays through 'Training on Food Processing' 🌱

Implemented by the Office of Extension Services, this initiative stands as a testament to the university's commitment to community development. In times of calamity, these skills become a lifeline, preserving and processing foods to ensure sustenance during adversity.
 
Participated in by the residents of Barangay Granada, this training took place on August 5 - 6, 2023, at Arjan Beach Resort, Brgy. Granada, Gigantes Norte, Carles, Iloilo. This event was made possible through the support of Punong Barangay Roberto Pestaño and the entire Barangay Granada community.
 
Guided by the expertise of our Resource Person, Dr. Rene Jun B. Belgica, a visionary innovator and Chairperson of the Food Technology Department at the university, the community of Barangay Granada, a valued partner of NISU, engaged in a comprehensive training on essential food processing skills. Students, housewives, fisherfolks, and others came together in pursuit of progress.
 
From the art of fish deboning to crafting flavorful Gourmet Tuyo, the knowledge shared carries dual significance. Additionally, these skills open avenues for income generation, serving as vital alternative livelihoods. The training also encompassed the craft of salabat making and the techniques behind mouthwatering pork tocino.
 
Nurturing self-reliance and fostering sustainability, this endeavor encapsulates the spirit of community empowerment.
 
This initiative is an integral part of Northern Iloilo State University's Extension Services, embodying an icon of hope for development and exemplifying the transformative power of education and collaboration. 🌍🌿
 
 

Monitoring for Community Development: Dr. Bon Eric A. Besonia, Supervisor of the Office of the Extension Services leads the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee on a mission to Gigantes Island, Carles, Iloilo. Assisted by Prof. Mark Ronar Galagala and Mr. Hamilton John C. Castillano, the committee conducted a comprehensive monitoring activity from June 26-28, 2023, assessing the progress and impact of extension services in fostering sustainable development and empowering local communities.

The Office of the Extension Services conducted a workshop on the Revision of the Extension Manual of Operations on May 17-19, 2023.
