NISU Main Campus posts 74.07% Passing Rate in 2026 CELE, ranks second in Western Visayas

Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) – Main Campus posted a 74.07% passing rate in the March 2026 Civil Engineering Licensure Examination (CELE), placing second among top-performing schools in Western Visayas.
The national passing rate recorded 35.05%. Out of 27 examinees from the university, 20 successfully passed the licensure exam held last March 26–27.
Among first-time takers, 19 out of 25 passed, resulting in a 76% passing rate. Meanwhile, repeaters recorded a 50% passing rate, with one passer out of two examinees.

NISU Holds COA Exit Conference for CY 2025 Audit, Reinforces Commitment to Transparency and Development

The Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) successfully conducted its Exit Conference for the Calendar Year (CY) 2025 Audit Observations and Recommendations in collaboration with the Commission on Audit (COA), reaffirming the University’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous institutional improvement.
The audit was led by Ms. Trisha Mae Jane B. Lupo, State Auditor IV, who presented the Audit Observation Memoranda (AOMs) and corresponding recommendations aimed at enhancing the University’s financial management and operational processes.
The conference served as a platform for constructive dialogue between COA and NISU officials, ensuring that audit findings are clearly understood and properly addressed.
In his message, University President Bobby D. Gerardo emphasized the vital role of COA in institutional development. He underscored that the Commission should be viewed not as a fault-finding body, but as a partner in achieving efficiency and excellence in public service.
“COA is our partner for development. Audit Observation Memoranda (AOMs) should not be taken negatively but as opportunities for us to improve our systems, strengthen our internal controls, and ensure that we are delivering quality service to our stakeholders,” President Gerardo stated.
The Vice Presidents, Campus administrators and other University officials and key personnel actively participated in the discussions, expressing their commitment to comply with the recommendations and to implement necessary corrective actions.
The administration also assured COA of its continued cooperation in upholding transparency and accountability in all university operations.
The Exit Conference concluded on a positive note, highlighting the shared goal of both NISU and COA to promote good governance and sustainable institutional growth.
Northern Iloilo State University ranks 3rd in Western Visayas Scopus-indexed research - GHF

Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) ranked 3rd among universities in Western Visayas in terms of Scopus-indexed research publications, based on data released by GHF University Excellence on March 31, 2026.
The ranking reflects the growing research productivity of NISU, with the university recording 139 Scopus-indexed documents overall. The achievement highlights the institution’s continuous efforts to strengthen its research culture and contribute to knowledge generation that supports regional and national development.
Universities included in the ranking are assessed based on the number of research publications indexed in Scopus, one of the largest abstract and citation databases of peer-reviewed literature.
GHF University Excellence is an initiative that works with universities in enhancing research productivity, improving research culture, and strengthening the global research standing of academic institutions.
This milestone underscores NISU’s commitment to advancing research, innovation, and academic excellence, as it continues to empower its faculty and researchers to produce impactful scholarly work.

Iloilo City — Northern Iloilo State University reinforced its leadership in intellectual property development as its Knowledge Management and Innovation Technology Transfer (KMITT) Office received the 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘐𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘚𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 (𝘐𝘛𝘚𝘖𝘴). The Palladium Award is conferred on institutions that demonstrate sustained excellence through five consecutive years of Platinum Award recognition. The awards were granted by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines in acknowledgment of the institution’s continued contributions to innovation and intellectual property.
In 2025, the KMITT Office recorded a portfolio of intellectual property outputs. The university filed 22 patent applications and 6 utility model applications, and secured 2 trademark registrations and 8 copyright registrations. It also generated 24 patent search reports, conducted 12 intellectual property foundation courses, and facilitated one technology licensing agreement.

The awards were received by Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo, University President, together with university officials who played key roles in advancing intellectual property initiatives. These include Dr. Larry B. Deysolong, Vice President for Research and Extension; Dr. Carlo A. Intila, KMITT University Director; Dr. Rosalie Grace S. De La Cruz, Innovation and Technology Support Office Manager; Dr. Madelyn R. Gumarac, Technology Transfer Chair; Dr. Bon Eric A. Besonia, Intellectual Property Education and Enforcement Chair; Dr. Mark Ronar G. Galagala, Copyrights Registry Chair; and Mr. Nephi Salvador Peronilla IV, KMITT Office Staff.
The KMITT Office acknowledged the contribution of faculty members whose active engagement in research and innovation sustained the university’s intellectual property achievements. It also recognized the support of the RAISE Project in strengthening institutional capacity for intellectual property development and commercialization.
In a statement, Dr. Bon Eric A. Besonia noted that “the recognitions underscore university’s institutional efforts, particularly those of Dr. Rosalie Grace S. De La Cruz, who has been instrumental since the inception of ITSO in NISU.”
Dr. De La Cruz served as KMITT University Director while concurrently holding her role as ITSO Manager from 2019 to the present.
University officials emphasized that the recognition affirms the effectiveness of NISU’s strategic direction in intellectual property management and innovation.
