New appointed NISU employees officially take oath of office

A total of 36 newly appointed employees, 30 from the Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) Main Campus and 6 from the NISU Batad Campus, took their oath of office during the NISU Employees Oath-Taking Ceremony at the NISU Main Campus Mini Theathre, September 5.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Maria Antoinette D. Aquino, Chief Administrative Officer, challenged them to prove their qualifications and readiness for the designation. She further emphasized that greater responsibilities come after promotions, and those successfully chosen should perform accordingly.

“May you instill in your heart and mind the mission, vision, and goals of the university, and do not forget to uplift our call to be 'an icon of hope for development.' Let us continue our remarkable accomplishments for genuine transformation,” Dr. Aquino said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo, University President, delivered his inspirational message, highlighting the importance of remembering the institution's mission, vision, goals, and objectives.

“I ask you to always continue to do your hard work and dedication in the execution of your judicial functions. Although we are already working towards the improvement of strategic goals and objectives, you can still refer to the one that is still in effect to reflect on those mission and vision,” Dr. Gerardo added.

Moreover, the event preceded the official oath-taking ceremony, followed by the words of gratitude from the new hires.

In addition, Dr. Ma. Theresa G. Palmares, Vice President (VP) for Administration and Finance, underscored her congratulatory message with remarkable advice. She asserted the substance of honesty in everything they do, for it will bring them to greater heights.

The ceremony concluded with a word from Dr. Gilda E. Deguma, VP for Academic Affairs, affirming the famous quote “humility is a great virtue.”

“Always stay grounded because humility is one of the greatest virtues. It defines our character as human beings,” she ended.

This ceremony marked the beginning of another valuable journey, opening the door for newly hired, newly promoted, and newly appointed members of the teaching and non-teaching communities inside the institution.

Northern Iloilo State University is deeply mournful of the passing of Dr. Zinnia Parcon Teruel, former Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region VI and former Board of Trustee Member of the Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (now NISU). Her loss leaves an immense void in the hearts of all who had the honor of working with her, and her remarkable contributions to both science and education will be forever remembered.
Throughout her career, Dr. Teruel was a visionary, dedicating her efforts to advancing science, technology, and education in the region. Her impact also extended to higher education, where, as a member of the NIPSC Board of Trustees, she played an instrumental role in shaping the future of the institution. Her legacy continues to inspire and guide future generations of students, faculty, and staff.
During this time of sorrow, we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by her presence. Her kindness, selflessness, and ability to inspire others forged enduring relationships with all who were fortunate to know her. While Dr. Teruel may no longer be with us, her legacy will live on through the countless lives she impacted and the lasting difference she made in her community, her country, and the fields of science and education.
May her soul rest in peace. Her leadership, dedication, and compassion will always be cherished, and she will be deeply missed.
