Spearheaded by Dr. Fernan Peniero Tupas, Professor VI and the current Director of the Communication and International Collaboration Office (CICO), the meetings laid the groundwork for sending NISU students abroad for their On-the-Job Training (OJT) under international industry partners in the hospitality and tourism sectors.

The orientation sessions, conducted in each participating campus, aimed to provide comprehensive information and guidance to students and their families. These sessions covered key areas such as program objectives, internship destinations, host country regulations, cost and support systems, visa and documentation requirements, safety and well-being, and expected learning outcomes.

Dr. Tupas, in his message, emphasized the significance of this international internship opportunity in shaping globally competitive and culturally competent graduates. “This program is more than just fulfilling academic requirements—it’s a transformative experience that opens the doors to global standards, cultural immersion, and real-world industry exposure. We aim to produce graduates who are not only employable locally but are also equipped to thrive in international settings,” he noted.

The university’s partnership with AMC, a reputable global placement and service provider, ensures a structured, secure, and quality-assured internship experience for the students. NISU partners with INNOVATIVE TRAINING WORKS INC., in bringing major certification programs in the fifth district by being a Certiport Authorized Testing Center, delivering opportunites for faculty and students to access internationally recognized certification programs.

The Certification Examinations provided by IT works serves as an assessment of proficiency in a particular field of computing. NISU provides certification to students to assess and validate the knowledge and skills they learned from their academic courses. By passing the certification exam, students will build confidence and motivation to become successful in school and to be globally recognized in their chosen careers. In addition, the achievement obtained by the students in passing the certification exam will be a statement of their competence as IT specialists once they graduated. Students who have certifications will have the advantage to be hired as they carry with them a seal of proficiency in the various areas related to their courses. Certifications also serve as an assessment tool to check students' knowledge of computing and ensure their readiness once they embark on their internship, and eventually, to their workplace after graduation. To become more competitive in the fields or specializations they have chosen.

A Memorandum of Agreement was signed on September 23, 2022 by the University President, Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo and IT Works Country Manager, Felix Christopher Alegre III.
