Blue Marlins bag triumph in Bracket A vs DOLE; secure spot in the championship game
Dumangas, Iloilo—Blue Marlins of Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) sealed its ticket to the championship against the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), 88-68, in the final game of Basketball Men (Bracket A) of RANGE Sportsfest 2024 held at the Department of Public Ways and Highways (DPWH) gymnasium, August 28.
Blue Marlins (NISU) drizzled amusing points paired with a strong defense, which paved the way for the team to compete in the final match against the winner of Bracket B to be determined on Friday.
With pure determination, the first quarter started with a two-point score from DOLE; however, NISU bounced back with consecutive points, which equalized the game. Marlins persevere in continuing smooth shots, resulting in a 29-21 quarter finish in favor of NISU.
Marlins welcomed the second quarter with a two-point shot, but DOLE tried their luck by showcasing NISU with only two missed points. With its vision to enter the final game, NISU surefire skills ended the quarter with a 58-43 score in favor of Marlins.
Furthermore, NISU strategic gameplay ensured a winning third quarter. DOLE tried to grasp their luck to overscore the Marlins, but NISU answered the opposing team by exhibition of consecutive points, which led NISU to finish the quarter with a 78-58 score.
Clearing their way to victory, the NISU Blue Marlins sleekly displayed a series of victorious attacks and defenses, which flourished their dream to bring home the title with an 88-68 score to end the last quarter.
