Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) Sara Campus celebrated the graduation of 543 students during its Commencement Exercises held at the Victorino Salcedo Campus Gymnasium on June 11, 2026.

 

The graduating class consisted of 187 Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management graduates, 169 Bachelor of Science in Criminology graduates, 109 Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology major in Electrical Technology graduates, and 78 Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management graduates.

 

Serving as commencement speaker, Raul E. Fernandez, Regional Director of the Office of the Civil Defense Region VI, challenged the graduates to become leaders who are prepared to face uncertainties and committed to serving their communities with integrity.

 

 

“Ang preparedness isa ka prinsipyo sa kabuhi. Mangin handa sa mga kalamidad, mangin handa sa mga kabudlayan, mangin handa sa mga pagbag-o, kag mangin handa sa pagpanguna,” Fernandez said.

 

He emphasized that in a rapidly changing world, success belongs to those who continue learning, adapting, and growing. Fernandez encouraged the graduates to prepare for opportunities, challenges, failures, success, and lifelong learning, stressing that resilience remains essential in navigating an unpredictable future.

 

Fernandez also reminded the graduates that they leave the university carrying responsibilities beyond their diplomas.

 

“The world does not need more spectators. It needs people willing to act. It needs professionals guided by values. It needs citizens committed to service. It needs leaders who can navigate uncertainties with courage and integrity,” he said.

 

He urged the graduates to carry the dreams of their families, the hopes of their communities, and the future of the nation as they move forward into the next chapter of their lives.
