Dr. Raffy Chavez outline key university priorities during NISU general assembly

Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) President Dr. Raffy B. Chavez presented the administration’s key priorities during the university-wide General Assembly Meeting held on June 2 at the NISU Mini Theatre, Estancia Main Campus, bringing together faculty members, staff, and university officials for a consultative discussion on institutional concerns and development plans.
Chavez emphasized the importance of unifying the university’s seven campuses and strengthening organizational discipline to support the institution’s continued growth and development.
He said the university’s direction is anchored on collaboration among campuses while ensuring that policies and initiatives are implemented more effectively across the institution.
The university president also clarified that the Main Campus will remain in Estancia, addressing concerns and misconceptions regarding its possible transfer to Sara.
Campus safety and security concerns were likewise discussed during the assembly, including the presence of stray animals within university premises and measures that may be implemented to address the issue.

Discussions also focused on the implementation of the car pass system, with university officials explaining its purpose in maintaining order and safety inside campus, while exploring possible initiatives that would help students secure student permits and driver's licenses.
Meanwhile, Vice President for Administration and Finance Atty. Neizel Anen Sabrido presented plans for the rehabilitation of the Administration and Annex buildings to provide designated spaces for university offices and improve the delivery of services.
Sabrido also highlighted the university’s digital transformation efforts, particularly the shift toward digital document processing and approvals to reduce reliance on traditional paper-based transactions and facilitate the faster movement of documents.
She added that digitalization initiatives are expected to improve the efficiency of regular university operations, especially for processes that do not involve financial and budgetary matters.
The assembly then proceeded with an open forum where faculty and staff raised concerns, sought clarifications, and offered recommendations on various university matters.
