The activity was held at the R&E Conference Hall, West Campus, Estancia, Iloilo, gathering key officials and planning teams committed to shaping the universityโ€™s next five years.
ย
Representing University President Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Gilda E. Deguma emphasized the importance of unity and foresight in crafting the institutionโ€™s long-term direction.
ย
โ€œThe strength of our strategic plan will depend on the clarity of our vision, the courage of our ideas, and the collective commitment we bring into this room today. Let us remember that the work we do here becomes the foundation of a stronger, more innovative, and more resilient NISU, a university that truly embodies excellence, sustainability, and hope," she said.
ย
ย
Dr. Deguma highlighted NISUโ€™s evolution from its humble beginnings to a rapidly expanding state university deeply rooted in community service. As NISU continues to grow, she underscored its aspiration to become an Icon of Hope for Development, calling on participants to elevate efforts in instruction, research, extension, governance, and innovation.
ย
She added that this vision โ€œchallenges us to create pathways that uplift not only our students but the communities and sectors that depend on us.โ€
Institutional Planning and Development Director Dr. Noe D. Dasig, Jr. walked participants through the mechanics of collaboratively drafting the universityโ€™s strategic plan. He introduced the framework anchored on eight strategic pillars:
ย
1. Academic Excellence
2. Inclusive Community
3. Research and Innovation
4. Sustainable Extension Program
5. Digitalization
6. Internationalization and Global Standards
7. Empowered and Competent Human Resource
8. Good Governance
ย
Dr. Dasig stressed that these pillars will guide all units in drafting a cohesive and unified 5-year plan that is both focused and measurable.
ย
Despite the disruptions caused by Typhoon Verbena, the workshop pushed through, reflecting the universityโ€™s resilience and unwavering commitment to its mission. The outputs of the activity are expected to serve as the backbone of NISUโ€™s Strategic Plan FY 2025โ€“2030, positioning the institution toward innovation, inclusion, and excellence in the coming years.
