Estancia, Iloilo - The Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) recently hosted the vital Tapping and Reaching Academic Institutions for NRCP Membership (TRAIN) Campaign on October 2, 2025, at the R&E Conference Hall, NISU West Campus in Estancia. Participated by 26 faculty-researchers from different NISU campuses, this significant research development event was organized by the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) through the NRCP Science and Technology Experts Pool (NSTEP) Visayas.

The primary goal of the TRAIN Campaign is to strengthen NISU's research capacity and national networking by integrating more faculty into the national scientific community and guiding them through the NRCP membership process. The program, which opened with remarks from Dr. Larry B. Deysolong, Vice President for Research and Extension, included a presentation by Ms. Ana Mae I. Roberto of DOST Region VI on the Harmonized Regional Research and Development Agenda. A crucial lecture on Effective Research Proposal Writing for NRCP Funding was delivered by Dr. Francis S. Legario, an Associate Member of the NRCP. The afternoon session featured a hands-on NRCP Membership Application Workshop facilitated by Ms. Kim Glaiza G. Wong from the National Research Council of the Philippines, providing practical instruction to help faculty secure access to prestigious national research funding and networks.

NISU reaffirms its commitment to elevating its research profile, fostering innovation, and securing its place as a key contributor to national scientific and sustainable development goals.
