Ushering in a new chapter marked by academic commitment and institutional transformation, Northern Iloilo State University officially opened its classes for academic year 2025-2026, on August 4.

 

Dr. Gilda E. Deguma, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), expressed optimism and pride during the opening day.

 

“I am so happy to see our faculty and students here today. The first day of the school year brings great promises as we continue to aspire for excellence in academic affairs. We are here for a great purpose, and Northern Iloilo State University, as an academic institution, will continue to provide quality instruction and meaningful learning experiences for our students.” Dr. Deguma said.

 

This year’s opening coincides with the launch of NISU’s newly crafted Vision, Mission, Guiding Principles, and Strategic Objectives as part of its broader transformation initiative aimed at furthering academic excellence and institutional growth.

 

Additionally, Dr. Deguma added that the Board of Regents has already approved the official calendar for the school year, emphasizing that there are no major adjustments in the academic calendar, and if the need arises, adjustments will transpire.

 

Furthermore, the VPAA explained that updates will be announced once the new policy manuals are finalized and approved for possible revisions to student policies, such as academic probation, retention, and progression.

 

 

Meanwhile, students and faculty can expect key initiatives this year, including a continued push for academic and co-curricular excellence, improved board exam performance, enhanced internationalization, broader linkages, active community engagement, the hosting of Dagyaw 2026, and strengthened faculty profiles across all campuses.

 

As NISU begins its academic journey under a renewed vision, the university aims for greater milestones ahead, encouraging students to strive for excellence with responsibility, resilience, and humility.
