NISU Board of Regents Holds 171st Meeting, Highlights Strategic Growth and Milestones

The Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) Board of Regents recently convened for its 171st regular meeting—a session marked by renewed energy, meaningful dialogue, and shared commitment to academic excellence and institutional growth.

With a well-rounded agenda, the Board deliberated on key academic, financial, and administrative matters. Central to the discussions were initiatives focused on promoting lifelong learning, with particular attention to micro-credentials, enhanced research output, and international collaboration. These areas reflect NISU’s vision of preparing learners and educators to thrive in a globally connected and innovation-driven environment.

The Board also addressed significant financial concerns, including the approval of strategic budget allocations to support the university’s programs and services. Personnel-related matters were likewise given careful attention, as the Board approved several well-earned promotions and moved to resolve pending administrative cases—actions that reaffirm the university’s commitment to fairness, merit, and transparency.

A notable highlight of the meeting was the Executive Committee’s personal introduction to Dr. Ethel Agnes P. Valenzuela, the newly appointed Chairperson of the NISU Board of Regents. Dr. Valenzuela brings with her a wealth of leadership experience in regional and international education, setting a strong foundation for collaborative governance and visionary leadership in the years ahead.

Adding to the university’s growing list of accomplishments, NISU proudly announced the receipt of several certificates signifying **100% Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC)**—a clear recognition of its adherence to academic standards and regulatory excellence.

This milestone meeting not only reaffirmed NISU’s strategic direction but also underscored its steadfast pursuit of transformative education, inclusive growth, and service to the people of Northern Iloilo and beyond.
