NISU-Estancia Campus produces  graduates; launches Web3-powered e-Credentials and the official academic regalia

Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) - Estancia Campus conferred a total of 1, 316 graduates and marked a historic graduation exercises as it launched the Web3-powered e-Credentials and the NISU Sablay as the university's official academic regalia on June 26, 2025 at the NISU Gymnasium.

This year's ceremony marked history for the university as graduates from eight colleges wore the NISU Sablay as part of the institution's distinctive academic costume.

The sablay is traditionally crafted from Hablon– a traditional fabric of Western Visayas and skillfully woven by the local artisans from Arevalo and Miagao, Iloilo and a tribute to the culture and to the artistry of the local community.

Moreover, the university also introduced the Web3-powered e-Credentials– an initiative, powered by FilPass, ensures that NISU graduates receive their diplomas, transcripts of records (TOR), certificates of graduation, good moral certificates, and medium of instruction certificates in a secure digital format.

Through Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with FilPass last November 11, 2024, NISU stands out as the first SUC in the country to fully adopt Web3 credentialing at a university-wide level and will now be fully operational starting with this year's graduation.

In addition, Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo, University President, announced that graduates will receive the original signed diplomas, which was later on distributed to the students during the ceremony.

"This is my challenge. Do not aim just to be successful, aim to be significant. Do not just look for a job, be someone who creates jobs. And lastly, do not just chase dreams, live a life that inspires others to dream too," said Congressman Raul "Boboy" C. Tupas as this year's keynote speaker.
On the other hand, Dr. Gilda E. Deguma, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered the welcome address and expressed optimism for the future of the graduating class to be fueled by both the mind and the heart.

"I officially welcome all of you to this significant event and let us rejoice today's celebration of achievement and I look forward to go in confidence for the future shaped by the powered minds and inspired hearts. Congratulations to the Class of 2025. Mabuhay ang Northern Iloilo State University, " said Dr. Deguma.

Present during the activity were the university's key officials, faculty, and staff; Mayor-elect Bianca Requinto Espinosa; Congressman Raul "Boboy" C. Tupas; Sanguniang Bayan Member, Municipality of Estancia, Iloilo Kim Carlo E. Bisa; parents and guardians.
