Extension Services, PhilKOFA, Municipality of San Dionisio partner for Adult Healthcare and Dental Program

The Office of Extension Services, in collaboration with the Philippines KOICA Fellows Association, Inc. (PhilKOFA) and the Municipality of San Dionisio, held an Adult Healthcare and Dental Program at Brgy. San Nicolas, San Dionisio, Iloilo on June 19, 2025.

The program provided a free medical mission and dental health services to marginalized members of the adopted barangay, aiming to improve access to basic healthcare in underserved communities.

Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo, University President and Vice President of PhilKOFA for Western Visayas, emphasized NISU’s commitment to going beyond the academe and serving the community, under the leadership of the Director of Extension Services, Dr. Renejun Belgica.

Dr. Maria Theresa G. Palmares, Vice President for Administration and Finance and a PhilKOFA Fellow, stated that the event serves as a foundation for future outreach activities.

"This initiative from NISU lays the groundwork for future programs not only in San Dionisio but also in other communities that need our support," Dr. Palmares said.

Also present during the event were Dr. Rene Jun Belgica, Brgy. Captain Erica B. Famoles, Mayor-elect Sally Lopez, BS Midwifery Faculty Elizabeth Alindog, Prof. Mark Anthony Lopez, and other key faculty members of the university.

The program was further supported by Batch Aeternum of the West Visayas State University College of Medicine, who assisted in administering the medical services.
