Blue Marlins Ride the Wave to Gold: NISU outplays CHMSU in softball championship showdown
In a twice-to-beat championship game, the Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) Blue Marlins softball team emerged victorious against Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) in a 5-3 score held at the Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) Dumangas Campus on December 20.
Despite the initial setback on the first game, the Blue Marlins rebounded impressively after tactical shifts, allowing them to dominate the Visayan Spotted Dear of CHMSU in the game, which paved the way to gold.
In an exclusive interview with the trainer, Mark Lester Deximo, he shared what strategic adjustments are made after losing and how mental fortitude is a vital tool in winning.
"First and foremost, it all comes down to self-confidence. After the first game, I took the time to speak with the players and motivate them, as I noticed they were putting a lot of pressure on themselves. We also made some crucial adjustments to our strategies," Deximo stated.
"In the second game, they truly stepped up and executed our game plan with precision," he added, highlighting the team's growth and development in making sure to bring home the gold.
Further, the Blue Marlins softball team will compete at the National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (NSCUAA), representing the Western Visayas.
